“The mentorship program got me to take more action to make opportunities for myself and essentially take greater control of my premed trajectory. Having the modules and resources in place gave me the confidence to reach out to professors and find opportunities myself. I think the biggest benefit was learning how to go out and take the initiative to network with professors and carve out opportunities in areas I’m genuinely excited about, rather than wait for opportunities to fall in my lap.”

Here’s just a few questions to determine if you’re a good fit for our experience:

  • Are you a premed student navigating the complexities of crafting a standout application for top 20 medical schools?
  • Do you find yourself overwhelmed by aloof the generic advice, unsure of how to elevate your journey beyond the conventional playbook? If so, you're not alone.

At Premed Catalyst, we understand the challenges premed students face in standing out amidst fierce competition.

That's why we offer personalized mentorship and advising services designed to empower you to realize your dreams of becoming a physician.

We are excited to showcase the remarkable success stories of some of our students, providing social proof of the transformative impact of our mentorship program.

Our Mentorship Services

Our mentorship program is built on the foundation of personalized guidance tailored to each student's unique aspirations and strengths. Unlike generic advice that often leads to frustration and confusion, our approach rejects the standard premed playbook in favor of empowering you to carve out your own path to success.

Through one-on-one strategy sessions, we work collaboratively with you to craft a winning premed application strategy that highlights your passions, experiences, and goals.

From identifying impactful extracurricular activities to cultivating meaningful relationships with professors and professionals in your field of interest, our mentorship program provides the support and guidance you need to stand out to admissions committees.

But don't just take our word for it. Let's dive into the success stories of some of our remarkable students who have benefited from our mentorship program.

Our Students' Success Stories

Jeffrey

Balancing academic challenges with extracurricular goals left Jeffrey feeling overwhelmed and lacking control over his path.

During his strategy session, Jeffrey candidly shared his sentiments, “I feel like decisions are being made for me between struggling with classes and what I can do with extracurriculars. I want control over the process. I want choices over where I go to medical school. I don’t want to settle!”

Driven by a passion for nutrition and public health struggled to align opportunities with his dreams.

Here’s how he expressed his frustrations, “I know what kind of application stands out, but I don’t know how it applies to me. What can I really do that fits my personality and skills?” and “I want confidence in the process. I want to know the steps I'm taking and the work I'm putting in is taking me towards my goal. Some stress is good, but the degrees of stress I go through are not healthy.”

This is what Jeffrey had to say about his experience with us and his new state of mind, “The mentorship program got me to take more action to make opportunities for myself and essentially take greater control of my premed trajectory.

Wins Recap

  • A research assistant position studying metabolism and molecular events that link nutrition and exercise to health.
  • An internship at an Orthopedics Clinic where he shadows an orthopedic surgeon

Sarah

Sarah's premed journey was marked by uncertainty and confusion. In her words, “I really struggled to figure out how to build on my experiences/resume to stand out to med schools. I had a basic idea of what experiences I needed to be a competitive applicant, but I was confused on how to start and who to reach out to.” Despite her passion for assisting individuals with disabilities, she struggled to translate her aspirations into tangible achievements that would impress admissions committees. Through our mentorship program, Sarah received personalized guidance tailored to her unique narrative. Together, we identified opportunities for Sarah to showcase her leadership and service-oriented mindset. As a result, Sarah spearheaded weekly bioethics discussions, organized community outreach initiatives, and secured a clinical research for those with deafness and hard of hearing. Here’s what Sarah had to say about us, “Premed Catalyst has helped me come up with a theme and has helped me find programs and contacts that I probably would have never reached out to or looked into on my own. It was also super helpful to learn about sending emails, so that I know how to structure my emails if I find more opportunities that I find interesting in the future.”

Wins Recap

Steve

When we began Steve’s strategy call, he had a timeline of a year to start applying for med schools. At the outset, he assessed his chances of success at a mere 43%. He was feeling the pressure of time slipping away. He stated,  “I just don’t have a solid plan in place. I believe I possess strong elements for my application, but I aspire to craft a standout, competitive one… I sense I’m lagging behind.” When asked about his dream outcome he exclaimed, "Dream outcome? I'd settle for any medical school in the US."

We challenged Steve to think about what he truly wanted. Turns out, Steve had a dream outcome after all. He wanted to stay in SoCal near his tight-knit family. He was passionate about ADHD, addiction, fMRI, and EEG. He had a knack for headmapping and a deep interest in the intersection of his culture and mental health.

In under six months, Steve secured an independent research project on ADHD, became certified in MRI and EEG, and actively participated in studies using both technologies. Today, Steve's journey stands as a testament to the transformative power of mentorship in empowering students to realize their aspirations and achieve greatness.

Wins Recap

  • Secured an independent research project on ADHD
